Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and look after your personal data — written in plain English, because privacy policies don't have to be painful.
1. Who we are
THOR’S On Ice is operated by THOR’S Events Ltd (company number 13453187), the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions about it, email us at skate@thorsoniceyork.co.uk.
2. What we collect
We keep it to the minimum we need:
- Booking details — your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), and the session you’ve booked. Payment is taken by our ticketing partner, not us; we never see or store your card details.
- Enquiries — anything you send through our contact form or by email, so we can reply.
- Newsletter sign-ups — your email address, only if you opt in.
- Website analytics — anonymised usage data (pages visited, device type) to help us improve the site. See our Cookie Policy for details.
3. How we use it
- To manage your booking and send you essential information about your visit (session reminders, weather cancellations, safety notices).
- To answer your enquiries.
- To send our newsletter — only if you’ve opted in, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To keep the site and our event safe, and to meet our legal obligations.
We rely on contract (your booking), consent (marketing), and legitimate interests (site security and improvement) as our lawful bases under UK GDPR.
4. Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We share it only with:
- Our ticketing partner [TBC] — who processes your booking and payment under their own privacy policy.
- Service providers — email, hosting and analytics providers who process data on our behalf under contract.
- Authorities — where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
Booking data is kept for the current season plus 12 months, then deleted or anonymised [TBC]. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are deleted once resolved, unless we need them for legal reasons.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- Show you the data we hold about you (a “subject access request”)
- Correct it, delete it, or restrict how we use it
- Move it to another provider
- Stop sending you marketing — instantly, any time
To exercise any of these, email skate@thorsoniceyork.co.uk. If you’re not happy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
7. Children
Bookings must be made by an adult (18+). We don’t knowingly collect personal data directly from children — any child details in a booking (like ages for ticket types) are provided by the booking adult.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects your booking, email you directly. This policy was last reviewed in September 2026 [TBC].
